Nigerian-American activist declared missing in US found dead

Toyin Salau, a 19-year-old lady of Nigerian origin, have been found dead days after she was declared missing in the city of  Tallahassee, Florida, the United States. According to the Tallahassee Police Department, Toyin, who spoke at Black Lives Matters protests in the city, was last seen June 6 near Wahnish Way and Orange Avenue, Tallahassee. Salau was declared missing hours after she tweeted she was sexually assaulted. Toyin tweeted that a man molested her that morning around Park Avenue and Richview Road, Tallahassee, Florida She said the man offered to give her a ride back to a church where she had sought “refuge” because of “unjust living conditions.” “He came disguised as a man of God and ended up picking me up from nearby Saxon Street,” she tweeted. “I trusted the holy spirit to keep me safe.” According to reports, the Tallahassee Community Action Agency conducted a search party on Wednesday night, starting at Bethel AME Church. The National Association of Resident Doctors of Nigeria (NARD) on Monday begun a nationwide strike after the expiration of a 14-day ultimatum given to the federal government. In a statement released on Monday by the National President of NARD, Dr Aliyu Sokomba, the health professionals said they decided to commence the strike action after the government failed to meet its demands. He added that the association decided to embark on an indefinite strike after six hours of deliberations on Sunday by the National Executive Committee of the association. He said some of the association’s demands are provision of funding for Medical Residency Training in the 2021 Appropriation bill, as well as payment of all arrears, owed its members in the federal and states tertiary health institutions, arising from the consequential adjustment of the National minimum wage. Edo guber: Obaseki allegedly joins PDP, picks membership card in Oredo

After his disqualification from the governorship primaries of the All Progressives Congress, APC, sources have claimed that the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has joined the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. DAILY POST gathered that few minutes after his disqualification, Gov Obaseki collected his PDP membership card at Ward 4, Oredo Local Government Area of the state. Recall that Obaseki had said he would not challenge his disqualification from the exercise. It was also gathered that the governor will be moving into the PDP with all the 18 local government chairmen in Edo State together with 12 lawmakers in the State Assembly. Governors under the PDP umbrella are billed to visit him this weekend. Further findings by DAILY POST revealed that some members of the PDP were already preparing to receive the governor.
